Your website is doing great, as the ads on it are generating a pretty nice amount. Still, one day, you’re trying to log in to your AdSense account and…wait a minute!
Yep, it was disabled and you immediately start to panic. What happened? What made Google take this decision? Hmm…nobody can tell. Still, what we can tell is that there’s no need to panic, since there are a few things you can do before deciding to retire in the mountains, since there’s no reason for continuing your online business.
How could this happen?
First of all, let’s find out what makes Google disable AdSense accounts. Keeping it short, there are three big reasons why this happens:
Using fake traffic - There are a lot of publishers out there who think that they’re smarter than Google and try tricking the system, by purchasing loads of traffic from shady sources or even buy websites with shady traffic.
In most cases, this traffic won’t have any interest in the particular subject, but it does generate revenue. However, it’s dangerous for advertisers, since it won’t convert!
Using fraudulent clicks - Google is very good at determining if clicks are legitimate or not, so don’t even think of asking people to search for your site and click on the ads. Yes, it might work at first, but it’s a risky move, not worth the minimal results.
Even more, some webmasters tried using automate software, clicking on their ads, which is a big no no for Google.
Having a previously banned account - If it’s not the first time when you’re getting through this, it’s totally understandable why you AdSense account got banned again.
A lot of publishers that have previously been banned after trying to sign for another account, using different information, but Google is very good at spotting such situations. If you’ve going through this for the second time, forget about signing up again and consider the options presented below!
How can I get the account back?
Actually, there aren’t options, but just one, big and fat option to consider, in case your AdSense account gets banned: file an appeal.
Google even has a special page for this, offering all the details you need and presenting the steps you need to follow in order to submit an appeal, available here. They will review your request as soon as one of their specialists is available, but keep in mind that you can submit an appeal just once per account.
Of course, it’s pretty hard to get your account back, but you shouldn’t be discouraged! On the contrary, there were a lot of webmasters that appealed and the response they got was positive. You can check out a story here.
Important note: If you manage to get your account back, it’s essential to put the code on the same sites, since Google’s banhammer will, most likely, hit you again.
What alternatives do I have?
If you’re not lucky enough to get your AdSense account back after the appeal and you’re not interested anymore in using this service, there’s still hope for you!
Yes, AdSense is the most popular network, but there are also some excellent alternatives available, perfect for helping you recover some of your lost income. For example…
AdClerks - Pretty much the best alternative, and we’re not saying this just because…well, we’re AdClerks. Take a look on our website and see for yourself!
Bidvertiser - We had to include them here, since they don’t require any tax info. Also, they have a great at design flexibility!
Infolinks - A stable revenue source, with top technology, great account management and a complex algorithm, delivering instant-driven ads in real time.
On the other side, if you don’t fancy any of these alternatives, you might as well give Amazon a shot and see if you can promote some products on your websites! Of course, this implies a completely different approach to your content strategy, focusing on pre-sale articles, but this is a different story we will cover another time.
Keeping it short, we know that having your AdSense account disabled can be pretty frustrating, but once again, there’s no need to panic, since there are a few more things you can do before calling it quits and cancelling your Internet plan.
